COMMUNITY STORIES
The Free to Be Youth Project community includes our incredible youth clients, political organizers, queer rights activists, our wonderful supporters, partner organizations, and more. Here are some of the stories from this community.

Ariah
"And I said, you know what? It is time. It’s time to let this old person go and become the new woman that you see yourself as when you look into that mirror. Not what everybody else sees. What you see. I’m going to move. I want to go to New York. I want to get my name changed, my gender market changed, so I can finally that ID on a table and say, What does it say? I am a female, I am here and I’m not going anywhere."
Davina
"As you go about your Pride month, I want you to remember my story and the stories of so many others, who are not just numbers and statistics but faces and bodies looking for ways to get by, on the subway, in stores, or on the streets — to find the self-care that helps us survive and manage the stress that stems from our daily lives. You never know what experiences are behind the Fenty-lined eyes looking back at you."
